Definition
The name (Greek, lit. 'the thrice-holy') of a hymn in the Byzantine rite. The Byzantine rite consists of the invocation 'Holy God, Holy and Mighty, Holy and Immortal, have mercy upon us' three times, followed by the lesser doxology.
