(Oct. 11, 1962 – Dec. 8, 1965) The 21st and most recent ecumenical council of the Catholic Church, convened by Pope John XXIII in 1962 and concluded in 1965 under Pope Paul VI. Outcomes of this council include the official acknowledgement of the possibility of salvation outside the Catholic church and allowing the Mass to be celebrated in local languages rather than Latin.
