Definition

A movement originating in Phrygia around 157 AD, led by Montanus and the prophetesses Priscilla and Maximilla. It claimed that the church had entered the final stage of revelation, the age of the Paraclete, characterized by ecstatic prophecy and apocalyptic expectations.
