Definition

A theological framework utilized by second-century Apologists to explain the relationship between God and the world. Influenced by Philo of Alexandria, who correlated Old Testament revelation with Platonic philosophy, this doctrine identified Christ as the divine Reason (Logos) through whom the world was created and who was partially known by Greek philosophers before his incarnation.
