Definition

A leading Christian apologist of the second century (c. 100–165 AD) who converted from pagan philosophy. He authored the First and Second Apologies and the Dialogue with Trypho, defending Christian practices and arguing that Christians are the 'true' people of God. He was martyred under the prefect Rusticus during the reign of Marcus Aurelius.
