Definition

Purported revelations, given to or by well-known Biblical characters, but excluded from the canon. Such extra-canonical OT apocalypses include the Book of Enoch, Assumptions of Moses, and Ascension of Isaiah. NT apocalypses not canonical include Apocalypse of James, Apocalypse of Peter, Apocalypse of Paul, and the Sibylline Oracles.
